5 reasons you need a mailing list28 Jun 2021

We’ve all entered our email addresses into a website to gain access to content that interests us – there’s a reason that having a well-maintained mailing list is one of the best ways to market your brand. Well, there are quite a few actually, but here are our 5 reasons you need a mailing list.

1. Build relationships with your client.

Having a mailing list is a really great way for your customers to get to know you. This means that you can let the personality of your brand shine through with the luxury of your words being delivered straight to their inbox. Think of it as a way to not only inform, but interact and inspire your potential clients.

You can send blogs, information packs, guides or just a general newsletter creating a community of people that are all reading the same information as though it was personally written for them.

The rapport you build with clients in this way, will keep them coming back for more!

 2. Communication

Changes to the company, new listings or services, whatever it may be you can communicate them easily. It’s a direct line of communication that the customer has signed up for. This is gold-dust in the marketing world, as it creates good solid leads – you know they’re already interested in you, and that’s half the battle! Your mailing list is a portal into the personal inbox of a potential client and that’s all it takes to create a solid sales opportunity.

 3. Feedback

Some mailing list hosts give you data feedback on things like links, interactions and anything that the client has to click. That’s one of the reasons we use MailChimp – the analytics are incredibly valuable! This feedback is key because it shows you what’s been sent has worked (or hasn’t) which means you can do more of the same or make changes.

Gaining more followers, and delighting the ones you already have, ultimately leads to gaining more business.

4. Marketing strategy

At some point in their lives, all the customers that sign up to your mailing list have had an interest in what you are selling. Which means you have a direct way of sending marketing material to past customers, present customers and potential not-quite-ready-to-push-the-go button customers. Getting new clients is great, keeping and converting potential clients can give you a solid stream of future business.

With most email services, you’ll also be able to segment your list. Which means you can target certain sections of your client base. For estate agents, you might choose to have a list for landlords, buyers, and a separate one for sellers. This allows you to serve your audience content that’s even more tailored to their interests, increasing the likelihood that they’ll want to do business with you.

5. You Own It!

If social media shut down tomorrow and all of your followers disappeared, how would you market your service or product? The best part of the mailing list is you are IN CONTROL of it, you OWN IT and therefore only you can decide to pull the plug.

You can make it as intricate or as simple as you like, and send a variety of different articles all showing your style and why the customer chose you in the first place. Providing the people who are already interested in you with value, is paramount to a mailing list’s success.

So there it is, 5 reasons you need a mailing list. Make your marketing work harder for you!
