Ah, Instagram. Over the years we have seen this social media platform grow into the widely used app it is today. However, it’s not been without its changes, some of the most recent of which are great for your estate agent business.
Twitter card previews
For months, if you shared an Instagram post on Twitter, you wouldn’t get to see an image of the original post. Because it’s a very visual platform, it would lose some of its sparkle. The latest update sees a revamp of the previews on Twitter which will now show a picture of the post. This will be a game-changer for your posts, as you will be able to deliver the full impact of an Instagram post with a clear link back to your account.
Links to stories
One of the biggest changes on Instagram is the way you now add links. Previously, you had to have 10,000 followers to add a link using the ‘swipe up’ function. Not only have they changed how you add a link, but there is also no longer a follower limit to be able to do this. The swipe-up function has now evolved too. You now use a link ‘sticker’ in the stickers tab to place anywhere on your video, users can now tap to follow it.
This will be a real asset to your account especially if you’re new to Instagram or if you have only just started putting energy into your content and feed. You will be able to drive traffic directly back to your website by adding a link, which can lead to a higher positive lead rate.
Video
Further changes have also happened to the way we see videos on Instagram. We used to have IGTV which did not take off as expected and then up to 60-second videos on the feed. They have now combined the two to make Instagram Video. They have also introduced Reels which is Instagram’s answer to TikTok. The changes come following a rise in creators using video for content and to make it easier for users to find videos on the app. For Estate and Letting Agents, this is going to make it easier for people to see videos like house tours.
